CITYSCAPE AFTERMATH

On November 5th, LAVA Collective marked the opening of their art show with a night of underground London music. Morgan Zarate and Crisis provided the soundtrack to the opening reception, where guests enjoyed visual art by Obey, Skullphone, Swoon and Peru Ana Ana Peru. The booze was free flowing and the music was pumping, there was a real buzz about the place and everyone was looking forward to the after-party. At 10 pm the crowd descended on the Princess Alice, a dingy old public house in the heart of London’s East End. Dubstep heavyweights Loefah and Mala rocked the foundations with the bass-heavy, dubbed out sound that has made DMZ a London institution. It was a pleasure seeing these guys play in such intimate surroundings and crowd there were really up for it. The sound system might not have been as terrorising as DMZ, but in such a small venue the system actually packed quite a punch and no one was complaining. After Loefah and Mala, Skipple came on and kept the party rocking till closing time with his blend of Funky and UKG.

Big Up was proud to be a part of such an ambitious project. Thanks to everyone who came out to support art and music represented. Special props to Delphine Ettinger aka Ashes57 – the curator of the project. Also out to Georgina Cook for posing with a copy of Big Up. We’re honored!
