GASLAMP KILLER
The Gaslamp Killer is a Los Angeles-based DJ known for his endless energy and eclectic music selection. 2009 was a monumental year for the Gaslamp Killer, from the release of his long-awaited My Troubled Mind EP on Brainfeeder to being hand-picked by Mary Anne Hobbs to play her BBC Radio 1 stage at Sónar in Barcelona this past summer. Here at Big Up, we had a chance to sit down with the GLK to see what 2010 holds for him, and to truly get to know the man behind all that hair.

Your hair has almost become your trademark. What inspired this look?
Shit man, it’s just annoying to keep it trimmed for women, you know? You just got to grow it man, hair farmers for life!
Flying Lotus has been quite vocal about his experimentations with DMT. Have you ever tried it?
Yeah, I’ve tried it. It really didn’t take me to where I wanted to go. But then again, I don’t think I really let it. I was kind of happy to just go where I went and not try to go any further. I would definitely like to try it again. It was crazy for sure, but I definitely didn’t go where Lotus went because his blog about it is so intense! If you read the blog, you’ll see it’s insane what he went through in this little time. So I know he had some really good shit…
