WATCH THE COOLEST NEW VIDEO – BENGA “I WILL NEVER CHANGE”

April 5th, 2012 by bigup (1) Art, Blog

The coolest video we’ve seen in a looong while with the simple idea and a very tedious execution was created for Benga’s “I Will Never Change”. The directors, or should we say the geniuses, Christopher Barrett and Luke Taylor, took 960 vinyl records, measured, cut to fit the correct size and then animated: “To animate the wave form, we built it and then carefully removed each individual record. This had to be done very gently as any shift in the position of the sculpture would result in the failure of the animation and as we had to literally destroy each piece of vinyl to get it off, there was only one chance to get it right. Once the sculpture was finally built, the animation process took about 30 hours.”

Damn, boys did an amazing job, and Benga, please don’t you ever change.

SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO – NEW VIDEO “CERULEAN”

March 26th, 2012 by bigup (0) Art, Blog, Music

Simian Mobile Disco just released their new video for “Cerulean” off their upcoming album Unpatterns, which by the way you absolutely have to check out, because it “is a record full of love, dedication, hard-earned experience, obvious understanding of decades of electronic music from across scenes and styles, and huge fun. It’s completely of the now, showing a band as familiar with Blawan and Lone as they are with Silver Apples and Phuture, but never jumping on bandwagons.” The record comes out mid May on Wichita Records, and if you like to hear more previews, here you go.

NEW VIDEO FROM MODESELEKTOR

March 23rd, 2012 by bigup (1) Blog, Music

This is just perfect for Friday. The new gem from Modeselektor, who’s always on top of their videos game. The video for their track “Berlin” feat. Miss Platnum was directed by Swiss graphic designer and animator François Chalet. And this is how he got the job:

“We want to get married, and we want Modeselektor to play our wedding… They’d NEVER come and play at a wedding… And we wouldn’t be able to afford them… I emailed Monkeytown Records in order to proove to Meike, my future wife, that this idea will always stay an idea… One day later on the phone – Monkeytown: ‘You contacted us at the perfect moment – we urgently need a good video because someone flaked on us!’ One Skype conversation with Modeselektor… 3 weeks of hard work and little sleep… cardboard everywhere… lots of computer crashes and… Modeselektor will play at our wedding!”
