Set to go off this Friday at Trouw, the April edition of Colors is going to be headlined by the Godfather of Chicago’s Juke scene, DJ Rashad. Accompanying him will be Night Slugs label head Bok Bok, who by the way, has an exclusive interview in the new issue of Big Up that is in stores now! Also everyones favorite Canadian, Jacques Greene will be in the house too, along with Awanto 3 and Styx [Audio Culture].

28 Comments5 DAYS OFF FESTIVAL WRAP-UP

5 Days Off has been over for almost 4 days now, but we are still feeling the residual effects of this monumental electronic music extravaganza. The Closer opening party on Wednesday night definitely set the tone for what was to come over the course of the next 5 days. We are ecstatic to report back that Zomby finally made his Amsterdam debut after 3 consecutive no-shows, and boy did he go “Hard In The Paint” with a set full of jungle anthems and a heavy dose of Waka Flaka Flame. Sadly he was without his Guy Fawkes mask, as he was looking very Kenny from South Park-esk.
Fast-forward to Friday, to the night that had the whole city of Amsterdam buzzing, DMZ Amsterdam which was basically the prelude to their 6th Birthday Bash. The DEEP MEDi crew were undoubtedly in a party mood playing certified club bangers one after another with a great deal of rewinds. James Blake played a DJ set full of white labels and Harmonimix’s… “The Pharcyde – Passin’ Me By (Harmonimix)” Uppppffffff. Need it! Darkstar put on a good live performance as well in the other room. To the dismay of many, Skream played a brostep heavy set, but Goth-Trad and V.I.V.E.K came to the rescue to steer the ship aright.
Paradiso was rocking Saturday night for the Colors party. MJ Cole schooled the youngsters in everything 2-step and UK Garage sound. Joy Obrison played a rather uneventful set considering all the hype “Sicko Cell” has been getting recently, but Pearson Sound wooed the crowd until the early morning.
